Full disclaimer, we haven't exactly been adventurous with Nugget + Tutu's diet, only because we know how fragile a bunny's digestive system can be and we wanted to keep their diets consistent.

Here is what we feed our bunnies.

Remember, clean filtered water must be available at all times. We also try to opt for organic food whenever possible.

Nugget + Tutu are full grown bunnies (5 months and up) and weight about 2.2lbs each.

Hay (90% of diet) - must be available at all times.

  • Timothy hay

  • Meadow hay

  • Orchard hay

  • Oat hay

  • Alfalfa hay (for young bunnies, but we occasionally sprinkle some into Nugget + Tutu’s diet to encourage them to eat more hay)

Leafy Vegetables (5% of diet)

  • Romaine

  • Cilantro

  • Bok Choy

  • Arugula

  • Green lettuce

  • Spinach*

  • Celery**

  • Basil

  • Mint*

  • Brussels sprouts

  • Kale***

  • Carrot tops*

  • Parsley*

  • Wheatgrass

*higher in oxalates, so even though it can be nutritious, it should be limited.

**extra fibrous, so recommend cutting into smaller pieces to avoid tangling in the stomach.

***scientific dispute whether this causes health issues. While some rabbits are ok with it, some are not. We stopped feeding this to Nugget + Tutu.

Leafy and solid vegetables combined, we give them roughly 1 cup per bunny every morning. We also try to mix & match at least 3 different types of vegetables to ensure they get enough nutrients.

Very important: always remember when starting them on a new type of fresh veggie, start with a few leaves then watch for their stool over the next 24hrs. If that looks good, then gradually increase the amount. Always pace out new fresh veggies, one type at a time.

Solid Vegetables (2% of diet)

  • Carrots

  • Squash

Pellets (2% of diet)

  • Oxbow

  • Modesto

We mix these two together with a 5 part Oxbow to 1 part Modesto ratio, and give them 1tbsp per bunny every night.

Fruits (1% of diet)

  • Apple

  • Blueberries

  • Pear

  • Strawberries

Depending on your rabbit’s size, this portion should be similar to the size of a blueberry. Rabbit’s shouldn’t be consuming so much sugar!
